I use my A1 mini to print drafts of a variety of designs. The A1 Mini is already a ft printer, but I wanted to get a little more out of it. So I jump on a deal with the UniTak .8mm Hotend. The standard hotend on the A1 mini is a .4mm, so this .8mm allows for 4 times the volume of molten plastic flow.Installation was very easy, less than 5 minutes. It took a little elbow grease to get the OEM hotend out, but the .8mm one fit perfectly. Switching over to the high flow nozzle comes with trades off and requires some setup in your slicer. Out of the gate simply choosing the .8mm profile in my slicer with no other tweaks, resulted in a few failed prints. With a round of calibration and some trial and error I found going to a .36 layer height with the default profile seemed to work for most prints, and roughly 30% faster printing. I am sure I can do a lot more tweaking, over time and with a bigger variety of filaments. The hardened steel is great, but in an open frame printer it’s unlikely to really be a big value or fancy carbon infused filaments. However where it is useful is with longevity.Typically .8mm nozzles are used for larger printers with larger volumes, it was a little counter intuitive to use on a small form factor printer. Printing fast is always a plus especially when quality can be compromised a bit. This works, but really struggles (as expected) with finer details. Since a lot of my work needs precision this really did not work for me and most of my use cases but the hotend does work as expected and seems to do a good job with larger prints once the flow and layer heights are tuned properly. Thanks for reading, I hope you find this helpful.

Poor quality prints from this item ... save your money and time and buy genuine bambu labs. Wasted half a roll of new filament on these
