After reading several reviews suggesting the District 70 Bamboo Cat Bowl was a bit fragile, I hesitated for a moment—but I’m glad I went ahead and ordered it anyway. Not only did the bowl exceed expectations, but I also found none of the issues others had described. In fact, it turned out to be far more durable than anticipated. Ours has already taken a minor tumble onto our tiled floor with no cracks or chips in sight, and it’s still going strong without any signs of wear. The build feels solid yet lightweight, and although it’s crafted from bamboo composite—often perceived as more delicate than plastic or ceramic—it holds its own in everyday use. It has a matte, high-quality feel and a smooth finish that looks refined but also makes cleaning a breeze. I’ve run it through the dishwasher a few times now (top rack), and it’s come out spotless, with no warping or fading.Functionally, it’s extremely well designed. The shallow shape is ideal for cats, especially for those prone to whisker fatigue, which can occur when a cat’s sensitive whiskers touch the sides of deeper bowls. My own cat seemed noticeably more comfortable eating from this compared to our old deep-sided stainless steel dish. The shallow design also makes it easier to clean out completely between meals—no awkward scraping at the bottom for the last bits of wet food. The non-slip silicone ring at the base is another highlight. It keeps the bowl firmly in place on hard floors, even when our cat eats with a bit too much enthusiasm. We’ve tried this bowl on tiled, laminate, and even carpeted surfaces, and it hasn’t budged. The non-slip feature is subtle and doesn’t collect grime or need constant cleaning like suction-cup alternatives. In terms of aesthetics, it’s an instant win. We went with the dark grey colour, and it blends beautifully into our kitchen décor—minimalist, modern, and a lot less garish than the typical neon plastic options. It’s the kind of pet accessory that doesn’t scream “pet bowl” but rather looks like it belongs in a well-designed space. It doesn’t disrupt the look of the room, and that’s a huge plus if you care about your home’s interior.Despite its compact footprint (12 x 12 x 2.8 cm), it holds a surprising amount—180 ml is plenty for a single portion of either dry or wet cat food. It can also be used for water, and I’ve even used it as a second water bowl during warmer days. It’s the ideal size for most adult cats, though if you have a very large breed like a Maine Coon, you might want to consider pairing it with another dish. One concern I had initially was about the use of bamboo as a material—some bowls made from similar composites can feel too lightweight or wear out quickly. But this one has a nice balance: it’s environmentally conscious, BPA-free, and sturdier than expected. It also cleans more easily than ceramic bowls, and you don’t have to worry about chipping or cracking as long as it’s handled reasonably. The overall presentation of the bowl impressed me too. It came securely packaged, with no chemical smells or weird residues. It was ready to use right out of the box, which isn’t always the case with pet products. There was no need to rinse or pre-wash extensively. For anyone concerned about pet-safe materials, the bowl’s simplicity and use of natural composites are very reassuring.I couldn’t be happier with the District 70 Bamboo Cat Bowl. It’s a perfect mix of form and function: stylish enough for any room, practical in design for feline comfort, easy to maintain, and despite what a few others have said, sturdier than it looks. For such a modest price, it absolutely over-delivers. I’d confidently recommend it to anyone looking for a thoughtful, eco-conscious, and cat-friendly feeding solution. We’ve since ordered another in a different colour and wouldn’t hesitate to pick up more in the future. Five stars.
