These highlighters are cute, but bear in mind you're getting mini highlighter pens here - they are hard to hold if you have big hands (as I do), so they're clearly marketed for young people or those with small hands (children). However, the pens do use a chemical to stop them from drying out; and whilst this chemical isn't toxic, it can irritate the skin. So don't buy these for young kids because we know they'll want to use them on each other's hands.

The first name I think of in highlighters is Stabilo Boss, I have quite a few of them. The German pen maker's latest offering is a mini version with 'nature vibes' in more earthy colours. The set of 6 pens arrives boxed in point of sale packaging. On one side you have the Stabilo Boss logo and a contemporary nature type of image on the reverse.I found the highlighters very uncomfortable to hold as they are so small for my larger size hands. You have to sort of pinch them between finger and thumb. The size is much more suited to children's hands but there is a problem with this. The ink is waterbased but contains the preservative BIT (Benzisothiazolinone) which is a hazardous substance and can cause eye damage and an allergic reaction if used on the skin. I wouldn't give them to a child. I don't like the drab colours in browns and greens which didn't really highlight text in the way I would like. They are still a quality product but don't appeal to me I'm afraid.

These look quite novel. A set of 6 mini highlighter pens in nature themed colours. In the pack there are 6 highlighters. Yes my picture shows 5 but one was actually caught at the bottom of the packet, so yes there are 6. The colours are range of natural almost pastel tones. They are quite earthy and make a great change from the usual bright almost illuminous colour typically found in highlighters. The pens are quite small and compact with a little design on each. They are good size for a pencil case. The marking is transparent as you expect but can be built up if need be.Overall a nice little set with more unusual but interesting colours

I couldn't resist these cute highlighters with their funky arty patterns on them! The funky pattern by the way is just on one side. The other side is a standard Stabilo highlighter - plain, with the brand name written on it.They are minis, so are pretty tiny at about 6.5cm long each. The colours are very neutral, muted, muddy and earthy. You get:- Cream / light beige- greenish grey- olive-yellow-green- terracotta red-brown- greyish brown- greyish turquoiseTheir dullness and neutrality is a stark contrast to the usual bright, happy colours I'm used to.As highlighters, if you do one single streak of them, you can see clearly through them. If you go over the same area a couple of times they become less transparent and also start bleeding through the paper to the other side.If you're looking for neutral, muted, earthy, pastely highlighters, you'll like these.

I thought the colours might have been too dark to highlight a black pen. To my delight, they're gentle enough to still be able to read the words. Only the beginning and ending of the highlighted line, go through to the other side of the page. There's no bleeding ink from the main body of it. Although small in size, they're still easy enough to hold. I do find that I have to rock them back into my hand to get full use of the nib though. As a right handed user, I don't get to see the lovely, nature inspired patterns, when highlighting. Instead, I get the Stabilo logo. A benefit for left handed users, but a shame otherwise. Overall, I do like them and the nature vibes I get from the colours and pictures.
