The Spinola Hours also includes weekday offices and masses, providing even more possibilities for rich illuminations. The book was commissioned for a wealthy patron, perhaps Margaret of Austria, and in the 1700s it belonged to the Spinola family, for whom it is now named.We are honoured to reproduce this unparalleled example of illumination from the J. Paul Getty Museum.

Bought as a gift for an old friend who loved it so much he felt it was almost too good to write in! Like that it is one of the ones in the flexi range which makes it a bit lighter and easier to handle, particularly for my friend, who has Parkinson's. It is a very sumptuous design and is slightly embossed making it lovely to hold and touch. Tempted to add it to my collection too...!
